How to Turn On 2FA for DigitalOcean

After you enter your email and password with two-factor authentication enabled, DigitalOcean will also require that you supply an additional one-time use token that is updated every 30 seconds automatically.

1. Log in to your DigitalOcean account. 

2. Enable two-factor authentication by navigating to the “Settings” page of your account.

3. Download and install an authenticator app on your mobile device. DigitalOcean recommends using Google Authenticator, which is available for both iOS and Android devices, as the preferred app for generating tokens for your account. No Internet connection is required for the tokens to be generated.

With two-factor authentication enabled, after you enter your email and password, DigitalOcean requires that you supply an additional one-time use token that is updated automatically by the app every 30 seconds.

As part of the process, DigitalOcean also requires an SMS enabled phone number, which it default uses to unlock your account should you misplace your two-factor authentication app.
