How to Turn On 2FA for Fidelity Investments

Fidelity has partnered with Symantec to offer an extra layer of protection---two-factor authentication (2FA)---each time you log in to your Fidelity account. With Symantec's Validation and ID Protection (VIP) Access, you'll receive a randomly generated code to use in addition to your username and password. This second layer of authentication can help prevent unauthorized access even when your username and password may have been compromised. Note that adding 2FA must be managed by phone.

1. Do one of the following: 

Obtain a physical token by calling Fidelity Account Key Support at 1-800-544-6666.

OR

Install the Symantec VIP Access app for iPhone or Android. (Note that VIP Access can be installed on only one device at any given time, so Fidelity recommends installing it on a device you access frequently.)

2. Get the credential ID from the token or app.

3. Call Fidelity Account Key Support at 1-800-544-6666.

4. Ask them to add 2FA to your account. You will need to provide the credential ID.
