Mandrill supports two-factor authorization using Google Authenticator, a YubiKey, or SMS to make logging in to your Mandrill account more secure. 2FA requires you to have physical access to a device (your mobile device or YubiKey) prior to logging in to Mandrill.
1. Log in to your Mandrill account as you normally do, and go to Account > Account Security
2. Choose the authentication service you’d like to use. You can use one or all services. For example, if you’d like to set up a primary authentication method and also a fallback.
Before following the steps below, you’ll need to install the Google Authenticator app if you haven’t already.
Click Connect Google Authenticator
Scan the provided barcode, then click Finish Google Authenticator Connection
Enter the verification code provided by Google Authenticator into the field provided, then click Verify Google Authenticator
If you don’t have a YubiKey yet, you can get one by going to https://www.yubico.com/products/yubikey-hardware/yubikey-2 before following the steps below:
- Click inside the YubiKey field and short press your YubiKey.
- Once the code appears, click Finish YubiKey Connection.
To use SMS based authentication, you’ll need to have a mobile device that can receive text messages. Mandrill doesn’t charge for SMS notifications, but your wireless provider may charge you for receiving text messages. Currently Mandrill can send SMS alerts only to phone numbers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and some Caribbean islands.
Click Connect SMS
Choose your country calling code from the first drop down menu then enter your phone number in the provided field.
Click Finish SMS Connection
Next you’ll receive a text message with your Mandrill authentication code. Enter this code in the SMS Authentication Code field.
Click Verify SMS
Once you’ve set up multifactor authentication, you’ll be prompted to use your Google Authenticator, YubiKey, or SMS authentication code when logging in to your Mandrill account (after providing your username and password)
